A global lounge access network providing members with entry to a large portfolio of independent and contract airport lounges and experiences worldwide.
What Is Priority Pass?
Priority Pass is a global airport lounge access program that lets members enter a network of independent and contract lounges regardless of the airline they fly or the class of ticket they hold. Membership is purchased directly or received as a benefit through select premium credit cards.
Founded in 1992 and owned by Collinson Group, Priority Pass was the first program to decouple lounge access from airline status or business/first-class tickets. It expanded the lounge model beyond carrier-branded clubs, giving economy passengers, budget-airline flyers, and cardholders a way to access comfortable airport spaces, and it remains the largest independent lounge network in the world.
How It Works
Members present a physical card or the Priority Pass mobile app at participating lounges, scanning in for entry. The network includes more than 1,300 lounges across over 148 countries, plus a growing roster of airport restaurants, spas, and sleep pods available through the "Priority Pass Select" experiences category, where a meal or service credit substitutes for lounge access. Membership tiers typically include a Standard plan (pay-per-visit), Standard Plus (a set number of free visits annually), and Prime (unlimited visits), with guest access available for an added per-visit fee.
Airlines & Aircraft
Priority Pass is not tied to any single airline or alliance, which is its core distinction from carrier lounge programs like Star Alliance or SkyTeam lounges. Access is most commonly obtained through premium travel credit cards, including American Express Platinum and certain Chase, Citi, and Mastercard products that bundle a complimentary membership. Because it is airline-agnostic, the same card can unlock lounges in airports served by low-cost carriers, regional airlines, and major international hubs alike.
Traveler Tip
Check lounge capacity limits before relying on Priority Pass during peak travel hours — some contract lounges cap Priority Pass entries even with valid membership, especially during holidays. Verify current lounge status via the app before arriving at the airport. CEOFLIGHTS specialists can help find discounted fares — call (888) 851-6897.
